Pulsoid
Pulsoid Screenshot For a download this size, you would be expecting a masterpiece - and that is exactly what you get with this game. 32 levels of blissfull Pulsoid bashing, and with an excellent level editor included, endless levels that you can create yourself. Perfect graphics are accompanied with great sounds. Endless power-ups (and power-downs), and a wide range of blocks with many different characteristics mean you can play this game for hours without getting bored. A wide assortment of monsters also appear during each and every level.

You can either play with Arcanoids (just balls) or Pulsoids - which are funky snakes. When you hit certain blocks with the Pulsoids, they grow longer and longer. Other blocks produce new Pulsoids and Arcanoids which help to clear the blocks quicker. There are also inactive Arcanoids or Pulsoids in the level which get activated when they escape and hit your paddle.

Unlike most games like this one, when you've got one annoying block left, after a short while of trying to get it, you are given some weaponary in order to dispose of it; which is a good thing as the paddle is rather limited in it's deflection's - it either hits it at right angles or back from where it came. The game also allows for 1 or 2 players on the screen at the same time. If you die, which I'm sure you will do as this game is quite challenging, there is a rather cool short video at the end of the game to soften the blow. All in all, this is THE best game of this type, and is definately worth downloading. - Tom Crofts
